Jewellery Valuations London

Welcome to Nicholas Muston Antique Valuations, an independent firm of professionally RICS qualified valuers serving all areas of London, including Chelsea, Putney, Fulham, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Hampstead, Wimbledon and Richmond. We are experts in probate valuations and jewellery valuations in the London area, and we cover a wide range of items for valuation such as antiques, paintings, jewellery, silver, watches, coins, medals, stamps, collectors items and many more, for the purposes of probate, sale or insurance.

The Nicholas Muston team have vast experience and provide fully confidential jewellery valuation and probate valuation services to our discerning and valuable clients, remaining sensitive at all times to their situations and specific needs.

For jewellery valuations, we can undertake visits in your London home. We are able to broker a sale direct to a jewellery collector, dealer or via a suitable auction room. Our intent is to achieve the best possible price for your jewellery. Being totally independent, we can recommend the best place to sell to maximise the value. This might be via auction or a private sale which can be brokered to a collector, museum or dealer. If auction is agreed as the best route to market then we do not make a charge, as our fee is covered by the auction house through an introductory commission.

We also regularly undertake probate valuations in the Chelsea, Putney, Fulham, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Hampstead, Wimbledon and Richmond areas of London, for solicitors, executors and beneficiaries. Our valuations of jewellery, antiques and chattels are done in accordance with Section 160 of the Inheritance Tax Act 1984. The valuations are also fully compliant with HMRC and are undertaken sensitively and discreetly at all times, by a RICS accredited art and antiques valuer. Additionally, we provide expert advice to executors and trustees regarding valuations of chattels for Capital Gains Tax, the Acceptance in Lieu (AIL) scheme and Conditional Exemption.

Following grant of probate, we can arrange for the sale of some or all of the contents of a property either via auction or a private sale.

Our comprehensive network of contacts, both nationally and internationally, will ensure that your items are exposed to the right buyers at the right time, to attract the very highest prices. Achieving optimal results for our clients is critical to our reputation.

Many solicitors, accountants and insurance companies recommend our valuation services due to our professional accreditations, decades of experience and excellent reputation. We are continually involved with high net worth insurers such as Dual, Hiscox, AIG, Axa and others.

We have gathered testimonials and recommendations from many clients in London and other areas, over the many years we have been in business. You can view some of their kind words here: https://antiquevaluations.co.uk/testimonials/

If you live in Chelsea, Putney, Fulham, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Hampstead, Wimbledon or Richmond and require our assistance with a probate valuation, insurance valuation, jewellery valuation or any other related business, please do contact us to discuss. We’ll be happy to talk through your requirements in order to help you in any way we can.

I discovered this pair of Castellani bracelets on a routine probate valuation in Hove, amongst a group of costume jewellery. The family had no idea what they were or where they had come from.
Fortunately I knew exactly what they were and entered them into a Bonhams auction where they sold today for £30,000 plus buyer’s premium.
Made circa 1865 in a Byzantine style they are set with sugarloaf and cabochon sapphires and each is marked on the reverse with the interlocking CC mark.

Another Louis Vuitton trunk sold on behalf of a client to a private collector. This time a wardrobe trunk complete with drawers and hanging rail. A few condition issues but it is going to be sent to France for a first class sympathetic restoration. No more than it deserves.

Alfred Daniels, 1966. London street view near Charing Cross; oil on canvas; signed and dated; 70cm x 90cm.
A great looking painting in lovely original condition that I saw on a probate valuation this afternoon.
Daniel’s was once described as a “Lowry for Londoners”. Born in Bow in the east end of London he studied at the Royal College of Art. In the 1960s he taught at Hornsey College of Art.

I always enjoy walking in London because you never know what architectural gems are just around the next corner. This is the Royal Arcade in Albermarle Street which was built in 1879 and is opposite Brown’s the oldest hotel in London.
