< BACK TO POSTS I love these silver “Butterfield” type pocket sundials. I collected this very original example by the Paris maker Bion last week. It dates to the late 17th/early 18th century and is housed in its original fitted leather case.
As you can see it is beautifully engraved on the back and is in lovely condition overall.
I have guided it very realistically at £500-700 but hope it will do better.

Had a great afternoon at Chiddingstone Castle in Kent. The eccentric owner accumulated a wonderful and varied collection of antiques including Japanese works of art, Egyptian treasures and Jacobite pieces.
Well worth a visit.
