Stamp Valuations
At Nicholas Muston our experts value collections of stamps from a single album right through to vast accumulations of albums and loose stamps. Our experienced consultants offer professional advice to help you get the best price.
Stamps are still hugely collectable today and can bring high prices at auction. The condition is intrinsic to their value with rarity also playing a large role in their final valuation.

Stamp valuations are provided for sale, probate and insurance purposes.
Low production runs, high values, pairs, multiple blocks, sets, printed imperfections, mistakes and whether a stamp is used or mounted are all significant factors on the value.
If you’re thinking about selling your stamp collection, a valuation from one of our experts can determine how much it’s likely to sell for at auction or via a private sale.
As we work on a commission basis it is in our interest to achieve the very best price for our clients through our vast network of private collectors, dealers and auction rooms throughout the country.
If we broker a sale to a collector or dealer then we charge a 10% commission (no vat on top) on the price achieved. If we arrange the sale through an auction room then you are not charged anything extra, by way of commission, by the auctioneers but out of what they earn they pay us an introductory commission.
Why get a valuation with us?
Recently we were asked to appraise a huge collection of Belgium stamps. Amongst the collection our highly experienced stamp consultant spotted a rarity, a letter sent from Belgium via Marseille to Hong Kong. We advised our client to consign it into a specialist stamp auction in Hong Kong. It was guided at £5000 – £7000 but on the day, it sold for a staggering £46,000. Without the right expertise this could easily have been missed.
