A fine pair of Paul Storr silver salt cellars with gilded scallop shell bowls raised on sea creature legs have just been valued for sale purposes for a client in London. Dating from the 1820s by an important maker they were expected to realise in the region of £1000 – 1500 when they came up for auction but instead realised £2400 for our very happy client.

Had a great afternoon at Chiddingstone Castle in Kent. The eccentric owner accumulated a wonderful and varied collection of antiques including Japanese works of art, Egyptian treasures and Jacobite pieces.
Well worth a visit.

I discovered this pair of Castellani bracelets on a routine probate valuation in Hove, amongst a group of costume jewellery. The family had no idea what they were or where they had come from.
Fortunately I knew exactly what they were and entered them into a Bonhams auction where they sold today for £30,000 plus buyer’s premium.
Made circa 1865 in a Byzantine style they are set with sugarloaf and cabochon sapphires and each is marked on the reverse with the interlocking CC mark.
