Classic Car Valuations
Growing up Nicholas Muston was immersed into the world of classic cars as his father was a specialist dealer in vintage, classic, high performance and sports cars. Let him and his consultants advise you on buying and selling classic cars.
Condition, provenance, scarcity and popularity are the main value points for classic cars. At Nicholas Muston we can advise on the best method of sale to achieve the highest price.

At Nicholas Muston we provide classic car valuations for probate, insurance and sale purposes.
Some marques are more popular than others with Ferrari, Bugatti, Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz always performing well. Only recently a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé sold for a staggering world record price of £112m making it, by a very long way, the most expensive car ever sold. In fact this price makes it one of the top 10 most valuable items ever sold at auction.
If a car has some racing history or a famous previous owner that can also add significantly to the value. As with most collecting fields originality, condition and provenance are significant factors in determining value.
Collectors of classic cars also like to furnish their garages with automobilia which would include enamel signs, petrol pumps, car mascots and memorabilia. This is a highly active field of collecting and we regularly value and sell individual pieces and collections on behalf of clients.
We can value classic cars and automobilia and advise on the best route to market be it directly to a collector, to a dealer or via auction.
As we work on a commission basis it is in our interest to achieve the very best price for our clients through our vast network of private collectors, dealers and auction rooms throughout the country.
If we broker a sale to a collector or dealer then we charge a 10% commission (no vat on top) on the price achieved. If we arrange the sale through an auction room then you are not charged anything extra, by way of commission, by the auctioneers but out of what they earn they pay us an introductory commission.
If you are looking to sell your classic car or items of automobilia please get in touch for an expert valuation from a RICS accredited valuer.
